Basic Motorcycle Rules in Kansas

Chris Childers established Allstate Renovations, Inc., in 2004 and continues to lead operations at the multi-family housing project management company as owner and president. When he is not overseeing operations at Allstate Renovations in Overland Park, Kansas, Chris Childers enjoys riding motorcycles.

In the state of Kansas, motorcyclists are entitled to a full lane of traffic. Unlike several other states, motorcyclists are not permitted to drive between lanes of traffic or split lanes. That said, a pair of motorcyclists can ride side by side while sharing a single lane of traffic.

While riding a motorcycle, any individual under the age of 18 must wear a helmet that has been approved by the Department of Transportation. In addition to protective headwear, motorcyclists are required to wear eye protection, such as goggles or face shields. Such protection should be shatter-proof and impact resistant. An individual is exempt from eyewear requirements if their vehicle features a windscreen at least 10 inches tall from the center of the handlebars.

Of course, all riders must be in possession of a driver’s license that includes a motorcycle endorsement whenever operating their vehicles.
